본문내용

Professional Football in Korea first started in a semi-professional form in 1983, with 3 professional teams (Daewoo, Yukong(currently SK), Pohang Iron and Steel Company) and 3 business teams (Kukmin Bank, Hanil Bank, Hallelujah) playing the games. After the foundation of Hyundai and LG in 1984, the games were held with only the 5 professional teams, Daewoo, Pohang Iron and Steel Company, Yukong, Hyundai and LG. The Ilhwa team was founded in 1989, Chonbuk in 1994, Chonnam in 1995, Samsung in 1996, and with the foundation of the 10th team, the Taejon Citizen in 1997, the Korean professional football got on the right track as a full-scale professional football league. From 1995, the home ground fixation policy was carried out and the team names were changed to Busan Daewoo, Chonnam Dragons, Ulsan Hyundai, Pohang Steelers, Suwon Samsung, Chonbuk Hyundai, Taejon Citizen, Songnam Ilhwa, Anyang LG and Bucheon SK. And, K-league settled down as a pro-sport getting along with local community by changing team name through the home ground fixation policy in 1995
