Do you know Coca-Cola, Campbell Soup, and Marilyn Monroe? It was common and famous subjects in Andy Warhol’s works. These are also familiar to us as American pop culture. Andy Warhol mostly drew pictures that were close to the public, so his works have American pop culture in common. Thus, I will investigate how Andy Warhol’s works reflect American pop culture.
First, his works showed American commercial icons such as Kellog Corn Flakes, Coca-Cola, Campbell Soup, Delmont, Brillo box, and Hollywood stars. He drew usual things that were quite familiar to Americans. For example, most of Americans ate Kellog Corn Flakes with milk, Campbell Soup and Coca-Cola etc. as part of a meal. They also watched the Hollywood movies and were wildly excited about Hollywood stars. Especially, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and Elvis Presley were so famous movie stars that they became the major subjects of his art work.
